It takes around 20 minutes to walk to Westgate Station, 25 minutes to Kirkgate Station or 30 minutes to Outwood. Alternatively, each station has secure cycle parking facilities, or can be accessed using bus services that run along Outwood Road and Bradford Road.

Wakefield Westgate is served by frequent services to Leeds, Rotherham, Meadowhall, Sheffield, Doncaster and Huddersfield and also provides journeys to places further afield such as Plymouth, London, Edinburgh and Glasgow Central. The easiest way to plan a journey by train is to use one of the online rail enquiry websites, such as National Rail Enquiries. Simply select the station you wish to travel from and to, and the dates/times, and the planner will not only tell you which trains you could catch, but will also tell you how much your journey will cost and then let you book your tickets.
